About three years ago I started telling people I was “about 40” when they asked my age. I figured I would take it out for a test drive. As I said, I just haven’t felt the panic some guys seem to experience, but three years ago I didn’t want to assume that would be the case.
I asked myself if there were any big regrets lurking in my life that I could actually do something about. First off, there were the regrets that fall into the “that ship has sailed” category, such as playing lead guitar in an arena metal band. Forget about those. What about the big items that I could actually decide to tackle?
I came up with two.
1) Form an 80’s metal tribute band named Iron Matron. This may never happen, but I’ve been working on my chops on the electric guitar and getting back to where I was when I last gigged in college.
2) Write a novel. And then another one.
